Scholarship Overview

The purpose of the scholarship program is to provide financial assistance to second & third year ethnic minority law students completing their legal education at South Texas College of Law, Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University, and The University of Houston Law Center.  In turn, our scholarship recipients have excelled in the study of law and become true leaders in their professions.  The next scholarships will be awarded for the 2017 fall semester.

2017 Spouses of Houston Barristers’ Ball will be held on on Friday, November 10, 2017 at the Royal Sonesta Hotel – Houston Galleria. We are proud to honor two of Houston’s most distinguished legal minds: U.S. District Judge Alfred H. Bennett, and Shauna Johnson Clark, partner at Norton Rose Fulbright.

4 ways to Participate in 2017 Barristers’ Ball

1.     Table Sponsorship

If you are interested in purchasing a table of ten or sharing the purchase of a table of ten with friends, mail in the enclosed 2017 Sponsorship Form:  2017 Sponsorship Form.

2.     Advertising Sponsorship

If you are interested in advertising your firm or business in our 2017 program, please complete the Advertising Sponsorship Form. The deadline to purchase and submit your advertisement is September 15, 2017:  2017 Advertising Sponsorship Form.

3.     Individual Tickets

If you are interested in purchasing  individual ticket(s) to attend the Ball, select  Paypal Page to complete purchase.

4.     Donate

If you are interested in contributing to our 2017 Scholarship Fundraiser, select the Donations Page on our website.

SHB’s success is dependent upon member volunteers and tax-deductible financial contributions from corporations and individuals who share the desire to promote diversity and inclusion in the legal profession. Scholarships have long been a primary focus for the Spouses of Houston Barristers. Since inception, the biennial Barristers’ Ball has been the principal means of raising scholarship funds for Houston area law school students in need of financial assistance.

The Spouses of Houston Barristers is a not-for-profit corporation recognized by the IRS under section 501(c)(3).
